GeekLogIt seems that the porn bots have discovered my website, as there were some very obscene comments left randomly to a few of my articles. Therefore, you now have to log in if you wish to leave a comment. I apologize for the inconvenience this will cause that one person who actually posts comments...

Been A While Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

BlogWhoa, it's been a while since I've had a site update! So what's new? Well, "Let the Crowbars Fly! 2005" was a big success. We had about 25-30 people there, had 3 Xboxes, and played a ton of games. The hotel conference room turned out to be a wonderful venue for a LAN party, and we hope to have more there in the future. The projectors made Halo 2 look really sweet, and the InFocus X1 took the cake for best image. We used the X1 in 480p mode, and compared it to an older Proxima getting its picture from a composite connection, and the difference was like night and day. Props to InFocus for a great product (now only if their support was better: see the article "InFocus: Great Products, Terrible Support"). If you missed this LAN party, don't worry: there will be plenty more to come.

Broadband/Dial-up Wireless Router Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

General NewsStill using dial-up? Here's a great way you can share your connection. The WiFlyer is a wireless router that supports both broadband and dial-up connections. At $149, it's a little pricey, bu one of the only dial-up routers available on the market today.

BlogAs you may know, I'm the owner of an InFocus X1 DLP projector. The unit performs very well, expecially considering it's a sub-$1000 unit. Recently I had to send it in for service (it was starting to make an audible grinding noise), so I got my RMA number and mailed it in... read on for the whole story.

More Updates for Let the Crowbars Fly! 2005 Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

LAN PartyStuff's coming together! So far, we have four Xboxes lined up (sweet), and 2, maybe 3 projectors (also sweet)! Again, please head to the official LAN party forums for information.

Lastly, an important item: this event is being held at a public place, and there will be minors present. Therefore, hotel policy states that we cannot allow ANY alcohol at all. We're sorry for this, but that's the way it is. Quality Suites was really nice to give us this room for free, so let's respect their rules. Thanks!

LAN PartyWell, based on the poll results on where to hold this LAN party, we've decided that it will be held in the conference room at the Quality Suites Hotel in Mira Mesa. The room comes equipped with a TV, a projector screen, Internet access, and will hold about 20 people. Even more exciting is that Aeryn has managed to score this room for FREE! We'll have some pictures of the room posted soon for your enjoyment. Also, there will be some discussions on the Xerxes3rd.net forums concerning the event, so head over there periodically for updates. Stay tuned!

BlogIt seems our "White Christmas" arrived a day late! Today we awoke to about an inch of snow, with more on the way. Currently we're supposed to be getting 3 to 5 inches, which is quite a lot for this area. Pictures to come soon.

BlogBack when Snej was visiting us, at the store we noticed a product called "Brownulated Sugar." We weren't exactly sure what it was, but we bought a box anyway (it was about $0.54). Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself!
